CIV6413   Advanced Simulation of High Strain Rate Dynamics   (15 credits)

Description

This module will introduce you to the fundamentals of simulation techniques for high strain rate dynamics. It will provide you with a stronger foundation of the internal workings of commercially available simulation tools that are used by professionals in the field of protection engineering. Through traditional lectures and tutorials, you will develop and extend your knowledge of the theory of stress wave propagation, dynamic behaviour of materials and a range of numerical simulation schemes. Computer laboratory sessions will give you hands-on experience of numerical modelling of fast dynamic phenomena.
